The transition from crib to a toddler bed is a process many parents in Kenya do their best to prepare for in advance. Even so, many parents struggle, when it comes to knowing the right time to begin helping their toddler get acquainted with their new bed. Fortunately, there is no set age with the majority of children showing signs of readiness from three years old while others waiting till they are almost four years old. Also, experts advise that each child be allowed to move over to their new bed only when they are ready.

Even so, there are times when parents have to make the decision to help their toddler move to their own bed even when they are not very willing to do so.

The arrival of a new baby

The arrival of a new baby is the most common reason Kenyan parents transition their toddlers to a new bed. To make the transition easier, mums should prepare their toddler beforehand by talking to them about the change from crib to bed. In most cases, your toddler will be much more receptive to their new bed if they have been anticipating the move well in advance.

Too big for a crib

Most toddlers are a ball of energy and are likely to find ways to climb out when they become big for the crib. When left to their own, the situation can be dangerous making it important to move them to a new bed to minimize risks such as injuries or even fatalities.
